Starting off the New Year on full blast!

So much to do and so little time! I've gone straight out of the rush of the Holidays and into a crazy 2010. So far, this month has consisted of snow, ice, sub-zero wind chills, busted water pipes (that had nothing to do with the weather), and leaky salt water aquariums. Whew! Is it over yet? I still have a baby shower to host and another one to co-host. My February trip to the Caribbean has never sounded so good!

On another note, my wonderful husband has been working very hard at becoming a Private Pilot for the past 7-8 months. Today, his dream came true. He's officially licensed to fly around in those scary little single engine planes! Ahh! =) I'm so proud of him. He's flying himself and a co-worker down to Orlando next week for a work conference. How cool is that? Congrats, Brian! <3

Holiday Decor

I've been super busy working on my Christmas gifts and decor in the past few weeks. The Christmas gift projects will have to wait until AFTER Christmas to be posted but here's some of the decor fun that I've been having.

A few weeks ago, I found this neat idea for Jingle Bell Wreaths from Martha Stewart. When I discovered that Michael's had their jingle bells on sale, it soon became a MUST DO project! =D

A few things that I learned in the process:
  • 16-gauge wire is NOT good enough. I ended up using 12-gauge wire and I think that I could have probably gone even larger than that.
  • Michael's has a WAY better selection of jingle bells than Jo-Ann's.
  • Using the same size bells on a single wreath looks better than using multi-size bells. I tried both ways and the same size bells gave a much cleaner look.
  • After 3 wreaths, I was so sick of hearing the "jingle" that I just couldn't make any more. =)

I also made the JOY letters with some Mod Podge and fancy scrapbook paper. I love decorating for the holidays!!

Hello World!

I've decided to start my own craft/personal blog! I have so many projects going on and so many things that I want to share. I'm thinking that this could be a lot of fun!

I'll start off by telling you a little about myself...

I'm a southern girl (seriously, ya'll) in my mid-to-late 20's who got lucky and tied the knot with the best guy around a little over a year ago. We're both computer geeks and ice hockey fanatics. I write web applications & software; he's a network administrator; we watch & play ice hockey together. Best friends, to say the least. Did I mention that we're also sudo parents to my 14 year old sister-in-law?

I used to spend a lot of time gaming but I've recently started crafting with that time instead. It feels a little less wasteful this way. I LOVE doing and making things for other people and crafting has become my outlet for that. Some of my favorite projects involve sewing, Mod Podge, paint, and power tools. =D

I'm excited to start posting here and I have lots of past projects to fill you in on. Check back soon for more!
